African Music : Africa has more than 50 music genres

Africa has its own tradition of music, regions and nations of Africa have many musical traditions. Music is very important in Africa when it comes to religion.

Africans use music to pass down (or tell) stories from generation to generation, as well as to sing and dance. 

The strength of African music relies on Percussions instruments like, Marimba, Conga, Bongo, Cowbell, xylophones, djembes, drums, with some tone producing instrument like Thumb Piano.

NO. 1 most popular music genre in Africa is Afrobeat.  Afrobeat is a music genre which involves the combination of elements of West African musical styles such as fuji music and highlife with American funk.

This sound or style of music was pioneered by a legend, multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Fela Kuti. He is also responsible for popularizing the style both within and outside Nigeria.

Afrobeat began to make wave in the 60’s. Fela Kuti experimented with different contemporary music of the time.  Now afrobeat has made its way all over the world, everybody wants play Afrobeat.
